The January 2021 CEMs report presents data on stack emissions from BLCP Power Station for Unit 1 and Unit 2 throughout the month, covering measurements of Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), Opacity, and Total Suspended Particulates (TSP).
Measurement results for Sulfur Dioxide (SO2) and Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) throughout January 2021 consistently show that emission levels for both units remained below Thailand's legal standards and the limits specified in the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) report. Specifically, the legal limit for SO2 is 320 ppmvd@7%O2, and the EIA limit is 262 ppmvd@7%O2. For NOx, the legal limit is 350 ppmvd@7%O2, and the EIA limit is 241 ppmvd@7%O2. Actual measured values for both gases were mostly in the range of 100-150 ppmvd@7%O2.
Measurements for Opacity and Total Suspended Particulates (TSP) showed similar trends. Opacity values were mostly in the range of 5-15%, and Total Suspended Particulates (TSP) values were mostly in the range of 10-20 mg/m3, both of which are below the prescribed standards.
During January 2021, two significant events affected the power plant's operations. From January 4-5, 2021, a "Trip from loss of 500 kV" occurred for Unit 1 and Unit 2, resulting in a temporary reduction in emissions. Additionally, from January 23-24, 2021, Unit 1 underwent a shutdown, causing emissions from Unit 1 to decrease to near-zero levels during that period.
