BLCP empowers communities to produce fabric masks and Face Shields, generating over 380,000 baht in income.

Ms. Parichart Assavakun, Deputy Managing Director, Corporate Administration Business Group, BLCP Power Limited (BLCP), stated that upon learning of the initial spread of COVID-19 in Thailand, people began to panic and recognized the importance of using face masks for self-protection. Compounded by the scarcity and high cost of surgical masks in the market at that time, communities faced significant hardship. The company promptly addressed this challenge, and our objective was not merely to engage communities in producing fabric masks and Face Shields. We further considered how communities would sustain themselves if the COVID-19 situation prolonged indefinitely, particularly regarding continuous income to ensure their survival and safety. This was the major challenge the company aimed to transform into a valuable opportunity for the community. Consequently, the "BLCP Cares for Society" project was launched. BLCP was among the first companies in Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, Rayong Province, to employ communities within Map Ta Phut Municipality, Rayong Province, to produce fabric masks and Face Shields as alternatives to surgical masks, which were initially difficult to find, expensive, and out of stock. From February 2563 to the present, BLCP has generated over 380,000 baht in income and supplementary occupations for the community. Additionally, other ongoing projects aim to create continuous supplementary income for communities, such as the "Sufficient Medicine Bags" project, which involves hiring communities to make medicine bags that the company then donates to public hospitals and Sub-district Health Promoting Hospitals (HPH) in Rayong Province. For all these initiatives, the company provides equipment to local communities for production. Thus, BLCP serves as a helping hand, supporting society and communities to overcome this crisis together.

Concurrently, the company has received letters of appreciation from various organizations that received donations of fabric masks and Face Shields from BLCP. For example, a letter of thanks from Vice Admiral Sutthinan Samanrak, Director of the Thai Maritime Enforcement Command Center Region 1 (Thai-MECC Region 1), who utilized the donated items for operations such as inspecting cargo ships at piers, fishing vessels at ports, fishing jetties, fish rafts, and passenger terminals, as well as inspecting laborers and crew members. This ensures the safety of operational staff from COVID-19 infection.
