March 28, 2020 – Mr. Yuthana Charoenwong, Managing Director of BLCP Power Company Limited (BLCP), revealed that BLCP recognizes that most medical personnel in government hospitals are facing a shortage of surgical masks. Therefore, BLCP collaborated with the Health Promotion Group of Maptaphut Municipality and Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) to teach how to make washable fabric masks. Additionally, BLCP partnered with Mab Chalood Community Fabric Product Enterprise, Huay Pong Market Community Garment Screen Printing Enterprise, Ban Bon Community Fabric Sewing Group Enterprise, Koh Kok VHV Volunteers, and Ban Payoon Small Fishing Boat Laundry Service Group Enterprise. A total of 25 individuals from these groups collaborated to produce "Washable Fabric Masks, Made with Heart, Caring for Society." Production began on March 12, 2020, and the produced fabric masks are now being gradually delivered to government hospitals in Rayong Province for distribution to medical personnel and those in need of fabric masks in hospitals.
"For these washable fabric masks, the company sourced standard fabric certified by BTTG, UK, and Unitika, Japan, ordered directly from Thai Taffeta Co., Ltd. This fabric filters down to 0.3 microns, is microfiber, enhances particle trapping, is fine, lightweight, breathable, quick-drying, and is Clean Room Class 100, washable up to 50 times. After sewing, each fabric mask undergoes a baking process at 60 degrees Celsius by the Ban Payoon Small Fishing Boat Laundry Service Group Enterprise and is individually packed for delivery. Therefore, we are confident that these fabric masks are safe, effective, and suitable for the general public, especially the elderly. This initiative helps alleviate the shortage of surgical masks and jointly prevents and resolves the spread of the COVID-19 virus."
