BLCP pilots a model school project, "Healthy Living, Organic Farming Way," for Wat Krok Yai Cha School, Rayong Province.

 

March 29, 2021 - BLCP Power Limited (BLCP) delivered the "Healthy Living, Organic Farming Way" Model Pilot School at Wat Krok Yai Cha School, Rayong Province, on the academic open house day, "ECO Lover Day" with Mr. Supan Harnthujit, Director of Rayong Primary Educational Service Area Office 1, presiding over the ceremony.
 
 

The company launched a model pilot school project, "Healthy School, Organic Farming Way," for Wat Krok Yai Cha School, Rayong Province, integrating the creation of organic vegetable gardens and promoting sustainable good health. This aims to extend care to students and various communities in Rayong Province, promoting learning about vegetable cultivation and sustainable consumption of good quality food. Mr. Adisorn Wangmoon, Director of Administration and Corporate Relations, BLCP Power Limited, explained the idea: "BLCP has been organizing the Sufficiency Economy Organic Farming project for local communities since 2015 to the present. The inspiration for this extension came from continuous engagement with communities and schools, observing the dedication of teachers and students who wish to gain experience outside the classroom. Additionally, BLCP has a concept to promote good health more broadly by expanding it to schools and various communities. Therefore, this project was initiated with Wat Krok Yai Cha School as a pilot 'organic vegetable garden' school, promoting widespread internal good health by introducing organic farming methods for planting and caring for vegetables, soil maintenance, making bio-fertilizers, natural pest and disease prevention, as well as water management and system development, which are crucial for organic vegetable plots. Solar panels were installed, and banana gardens and vegetable plots were developed. The area for the 'happy hen' egg farm was also expanded to reduce overcrowding and ensure high-quality, nutritionally beneficial eggs. An efficient grease trap system for wastewater management was implemented. Additionally, a net-covered vegetable dome and organic fertilizer production from leaves were established. Furthermore, BLCP plans to expand this project to students in Rayong Province, having already extended it to Wat Samnak Katon School, Ban Chang District, Rayong Province. BLCP has continued activities based on the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy and the BCG Model. Moreover, chemical-free fruits and vegetables offer a healthy alternative, with people increasingly focusing on health today. The project also helps empower communities, teachers, and students with knowledge to maintain vegetable plots long-term independently. Additionally, interested teachers or parents can earn supplementary income from growing chemical-free vegetables at home."

 

The company periodically monitors the project's progress at the school and provides consultation and assistance to strengthen the community, teachers, and students, enabling them to continue the activities sustainably. Beyond serving as a learning resource for students and community members, this support for organic vegetable plots has led to increased expertise within the Khod Hin-Khao Phai Organic Agriculture Community Enterprise. The company plans to establish this as a knowledge dissemination center for the community in the future.
