Capturing Sulfur Dioxide Gas (SO₂) with Seawater!

BLCP Power Station uses technology called

Flue Gas Desulphurization (FGD) by using seawater to capture SO₂ gas.

In the absorber tank, hot gas (Flue Gas) is drawn into the tank, moving from bottom to top.

In the middle and upper parts of the tank, seawater spray nozzles (Distributors) are installed, designed to spray against the hot gas flow.

To allow seawater molecules (H₂O) to combine with SO₂ gas, forming bisulfite (HSO3-) in the water.

Then, the water containing bisulfite is sent to an aeration tank to convert it into "sulfate (SO42-)", which is harmless (a natural ingredient in seawater).

Before releasing it back to the sea in a safe and balanced condition.

Achieved Results

Reduces SO₂ emissions by more than 98%

Does not require the use of hazardous chemicals

Restores clean water to the coastal ecosystem

FGD technology is one of BLCP Power Station's "clean technologies" systems that enables environmentally responsible electricity generation, alongside national energy security.

BLCP is committed to developing secure energy for communities and a sustainable environment.

Together, we will create a good environment and a sustainable future.
