The BLCP Power Plant Project's Environmental Impact Mitigation Measures Compliance Monitoring Working Group held its 12/2559 meeting on December 13, 2559, at 09.15 hrs. Mr. Preecha Rungrat, Chairman of the Working Group, presided over the meeting and expressed gratitude and commendation to BLCP Power Company Limited for its environmental and social operations, including career development and marine ecosystem restoration projects. Additionally, the meeting approved the minutes of the 11/2559 meeting held on November 8, 2559.
Dr. Jirawan Champaneel presented the project's environmental quality monitoring results for November 2559. It was found that 2 coal unloading vessels had sulfur content ranging from 0.22-0.50%, which was within the specified criteria (maximum 0.70% and average 0.45%). Average raw water consumption was 1,753.77 cu.m./day, and average wastewater entering the treatment system was 1,425.71 cu.m./day. The quality of all treated wastewater met the standards.
Regarding waste management, in November 2559, there were 3.49 tons of hazardous waste and 24.45 tons of non-hazardous waste. Heavy ash transported out of the power plant amounted to 6,037.04 tons, and fly ash was 53,174.40 tons. The results of air quality monitoring from stacks and ambient air quality, as well as water quality discharged from the cooling water discharge canal of production units 1 and 2, indicated that all indices met the specified standards.
For CSR activities, Ms. Puripa Akrapan reported on the progress of the Sustainable Fishery Career Development Project, which included crab and shrimp breeding farm activities and the provision of crab net making equipment to 74 fishery members. Additionally, the ecosystem restoration project in the Ko Saket area submitted a request for permission to deploy 400 artificial coral blocks, scheduled for December 19-20, 2559. Furthermore, 2,000 coral fragments will be nursed in January 2560. Activity photos show coral nursery rafts and coral nursery panels.
As for the Sufficiency Economy Organic Farming Project, workshops were held, and an application for Thailand Organic Standard certification was submitted. Community relations activities in December 2559 included participating in releasing aquatic animals with various fishery groups, the "White Flag Green Star" factory assessment, participating in the "Do Good for the King" activity, the traditional rice harvesting event, and organizing the 4/2559 Tripartite Meeting. No issues were proposed for amendment in the project's environmental impact mitigation measures. The next meeting (1/2560) was scheduled for January 10, 2560, at 09.00 hrs.
