EGCO is confident that the new deal will have power generation capacity no less than the assets sold. The company is currently negotiating to finalize the acquisition (M&A) of overseas power businesses, which is expected to be concluded within this year, covering both renewable and conventional power plants.
On August 17, 2018, the Board of Directors will consider the interim dividend payment from normal profit and will carefully consider the special dividend payment from the sale of EASTW shares and the Masinloc power plant, as the company still has ongoing investment plans.
The equity-based generation capacity in the Masinloc project consists of power plant units 1 and 2 totaling 308.70 MW, a 4.90 MW battery energy storage system, and unit 3, which is under construction, 147 MW.
In Q1/2018, EGCO sold its entire 18.72% stake in EASTW for 5.23 billion Baht and sold a 49% stake in the Masinloc power plant for USD 850 million, or approximately 27 billion Baht, resulting in a net profit of as high as 20.2 billion Baht.
Following the sale of shares in the Masinloc power plant, as of the end of Q1/2018, EGCO had a total equity-based generation capacity of 4,804 MW, comprising 4,260 MW from 26 power plants in 5 countries that have achieved COD, and an additional 544 MW from power plants under development, which will gradually commence commercial operation in 2019 and 2022.
