The 87-2/2024 Meeting of the Committee for the Environmental Impact Prevention, Mitigation, and Monitoring Plan of BLCP Power Company Limited's Coal Terminal Project was held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Meeting Room 204, Map Ta Phut Industrial Port Office Building, with Mr. Pamook Tepalakul as Chairman. The meeting acknowledged changes in the committee's roster and approved the minutes of meeting No. 86-1/2024 held on March 29, 2024.
Environmental impact monitoring results for BLCP Power Plant Project Units 1 and 2 and the Coal Terminal Project, conducted by UAE Co., Ltd. during March - May 2024, found that general noise levels, wastewater quality from the treatment system, water quality discharged from the cooling water canal, seawater temperature, seawater quality, and marine ecology in Map Ta Phut Bay all met the specified standards.
Regarding the operations of BLCP Power Plant and Coal Terminal during March - May 2024, a total of 1,436,333 tons of coal were unloaded from Hunter Valley, with an average sulfur content of 0.43%, which is within standard limits. Net electricity generation totaled 2,923,963 MWh, and 140,716.32 tons of fly ash and 22,243.96 tons of bottom ash were exported for beneficial use or proper disposal.
Air quality monitoring results for emissions from the power plant stacks, including sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, opacity, and particulate matter, were within EIA standards. Additionally, ambient air quality in the general Map Ta Phut area also met standards, despite some station malfunctions, such as insects on filters or power outages, which have since been rectified.
The project has fully complied with environmental impact mitigation measures, covering air quality, transportation, waste management, marine ecosystem and water quality, and aesthetics. The monitoring team conducted two site inspections (March 18, 2024, and May 27, 2024) and found no significant issues.
Furthermore, BLCP Power Company Limited continuously carried out Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities during March - May 2024, such as contributing 58 million Baht to the Electricity Development Fund, organizing the "Leaf Compost" project, releasing aquatic species, providing scholarships, and emergency survival skills training.
