Minutes of the 87-2/2567 Meeting of the Committee Overseeing the Environmental Impact Prevention, Mitigation, and Monitoring Action Plan for BLCP Power Company Limited's Coal Terminal Project, held on Wednesday, 3 July 2024, at Meeting Room 204, Map Ta Phut Industrial Port Office Building, with Mr. Pamuk Tephalakul as Chairman. The meeting acknowledged the minutes of the 86-1/2567 meeting and there were no outstanding matters from the previous meeting. Mr. Maitree Rodpon inquired about the progress of changes to the committee's roster, which the Map Ta Phut Industrial Port Office acknowledged and will coordinate for further discussion.
Ms. Napasawan Kongkham from UAE Co., Ltd. presented the results of environmental impact monitoring for BLCP Power Station Units 1 and 2 and the Coal Terminal Project during March - May 2024. The measurement results for general noise levels, wastewater quality, water discharged from the cooling water canal, seawater temperature, seawater quality in Map Ta Phut Bay, and marine ecology all complied with the established standards. Additionally, Ms. Sineenart Khanthaballang from BLCP Power Co., Ltd. clarified that the measurements were conducted in accordance with EIA measures and that communication with the community occurs during plant shutdowns.
During this period, BLCP Power Station received a total of 1,436,333 tons of coal with an average sulfur content of 0.43%, which complies with EIA requirements, and generated over 2.9 million MWh of electricity. Fly ash, bottom ash, hazardous waste, and non-hazardous waste were managed in accordance with regulations. All indices for air quality discharged from the stacks and ambient air quality in the Map Ta Phut area generally complied with the established standards. The monitoring working group inspected the power plant area twice and found no issues.
Mr. Thanai Nantanakan reported on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities during March - May 2024, which included a contribution of 58 million baht to the Electricity Development Fund and various social, environmental, and community cultural development activities such as the Leaf Fertilizer Project, release of aquatic species, scholarship grants, and emergency survival skills training. This also included supporting 30 scholarships for Phase 2 of the project "Fulfilling Dreams, Nurturing Youth, Preparing Personnel for Rayong Province's Health Service, Rehabilitation, and Elderly Care Center," totaling 8.4 million baht.
