The Meeting of the Committee Overseeing the Environmental Impact Prevention, Mitigation, and Monitoring Plan for the Coal Handling Port Project of BLCP Power Company Limited No. 79-2/2565 was held on Friday, July 1, 2022, from 14:00-16:00 via online system, with Mr. Anuchit Sawat, Director of Map Ta Phut Industrial Port Office, acting as Chairman, and representatives from government agencies, communities, and the company attending.
The results of environmental impact monitoring between March and May 2022 by UAE Co., Ltd. found that the amount of air pollutants discharged from the stacks of both 2 power plant units, general ambient air quality, general noise levels, effluent quality from the wastewater treatment system, water quality discharged from the cooling water discharge canal, and seawater temperature all met the specified standards, except for certain periods when the particulate matter value from the stack did not meet the standard for only 1 hour due to a malfunction of the mist eliminator, which has since been repaired.
Regarding the operations of BLCP Power Plant and Coal Handling Port between March and May 2022, a total of 937,392 tons of coal were unloaded from vessels, with an average sulfur content of 0.44%, which is within the specified criteria (annual average not exceeding 0.45% and maximum per shipment not exceeding 0.70%). The power plant generated a total of 2,966,269 MWh-net of electricity and exported a total of 153,885.21 tons of fly ash and 8,278.05 tons of bottom ash.
The project has fully complied with various environmental impact mitigation measures, such as water spraying in the coal storage yard, installation of pollution control systems, provision of noise prevention equipment, waste management, and maintenance of the ecosystem and seawater quality. The monitoring working group conducted an inspection on May 25, 2022, and found no recommendations.
Regarding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities between March and May 2022, the company returned a total of 8 million Baht in local taxes and contributed a total of 56 million Baht to the Electricity Development Fund. Additionally, it supported COVID-19 infected individuals with over 400 trays of eggs, valued at 50,000 Baht, donated 100 packs of drinking water, supported the Songkran tradition, donated funds for novice ordination ceremonies, and provided scholarships to communities and fishing groups totaling 20.7 million Baht.
The meeting acknowledged all reports and had inquiries regarding the electrostatic precipitator and the survey plan for the navigation channel. The company clarified and will present further details at the next working group meeting on July 26, 2022. Full details are in the attached file.
