The BLCP Power Station Tripartite Committee Meeting No. 83-1/2566 was held on Friday, May 26, 2023, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM via MS Team, with Mr. Wira Mawijak as Chairman. The meeting resolved to approve the minutes of Meeting No. 82-3/2565 and acknowledged BLCP Power Station's operational report.
BLCP Power Station conducted Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities between January and April 2023, such as providing scholarships to children in 35 communities for the 22nd consecutive year, supporting the Sufficiency Economy Organic Farming Project, organizing the tourism promotion event "Talad Chedi, Community Way, 1st Edition," generating 26,500 Baht in income, and delivering 9 patient beds to Huay Pong Public Health Service Center. Additionally, it participated in the Boon Khao Lam and Songkran traditional activities in 38 communities and hosted the release of 1,200,270 aquatic animals.
Regarding operations, BLCP Power Station and its coal-unloading port received a total of 1,247,940 tons of coal between January and April 2023, with an average coal sulfur content of 0.44%, which is within EIA standards. Net electricity generation totaled 3,443,989 MWh-net, and 182,963.14 tons of fly ash and 17,263.43 tons of bottom ash were exported.
Environmental quality monitoring results between January and April 2023 showed that air pollutant levels discharged from the stacks of both power plant units, such as sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, opacity, and particulate matter, complied with EIA requirements and Ministry of Industry standards. Ambient air quality, noise levels, and wastewater quality from the treatment system, as well as the quality of water discharged into the cooling water canal and overall seawater quality, were in compliance with established standards. Exceptions included abnormally high sulfur dioxide levels detected at Station B (Soi Thoed Thai Muslim) between April 21-24, 2023, with an unknown source, and maximum noise levels at Wat Ta Kuan exceeding normal levels due to Songkran preparation activities.
The working group monitoring compliance with environmental impact mitigation measures for BLCP Power Station and its coal-unloading port between January and April 2023 found full compliance with various measures, such as water spraying at the coal yard, installation of pollution control systems, and provision of noise protection equipment. However, it was recommended to automate the water spray system at the coal yard and to inform fishing communities about marine activities.
